Cover Art: Three by Jay Posey (Angry Robot)

Three

Shadowhawk takes a look at the cover for an upcoming debut novel from Angry Robot Books.

“This could very well be the official poster or a movie I’d love to go watch soon as I see the poster.” ~Shadowhawk

Angry Robot put out some of the greatest books in the industry, that’s not a surprise. It is a fact. In terms of consistency as far as my reading experience goes, they are definitely at the top. I’ve just finished reading another great debut from them just this week, Wesley Chu’s The Lives of Tao, which hits all the right beats for a debut novel and tells a great story that is ultimately, fun to read in the extreme. This past Monday, readers over at io9 got an exclusive reveal for a new debut novel coming from Angry Robot this August, and this one looks to be another great addition to their line-up for what is already turning into a really strong year for them.

Written by Jay Posey and the first in the Duskwalker Cycle series, the premise of the novel is something straight out of a Hollywood movie and the cover reflects that kind of realism. I would even say that Steven Mayor-Rassow has turned out a cover that would be perfect for a video game as well.In fact, I’m seeing some shades of Assassin’s Creed box art in the cover, and as someone who loves everything Assassin’s Creed, I mean it as high praise indeed. The cover also does a great job of getting across the nature of the premise: post-apocalyptic fiction. The atmosphere is all there, and I love how the colours and the composition bring that all out.

Here it is:

The book will be released at the end of July in US/Canada and the beginning of August in UK. Should be fun times!

So, what do you think of the cover? Do you like it? Hate it? Ambivalent? Share your thoughts in the comments!
