X-Men: Battle of the Atom Part 2 – A Marvel Comics Event Review [Bane of Kings/Shadowhawk]

X-Men - Battle of the Atom 02

Bane of Kings and Shadowhawk take a look at the second month of Marvel’s one of two ongoing events, celebrating 50 years of X-Men comics.

Whilst Battle of the Atom may have started out strong, it rapidly goes downhill and ends up being a disappointing mess that could have been pulled off so much better. Best Avoided.~Bane of Kings, The Founding Fields

“After the strong start in September, the October issues for the event can only be summed up as heroes fighting each other just for the hell of it because why not, its all just cool right?” ~Shadowhawk, The Founding Fields

X-Men: Battle of the Atom Part 1 – A Marvel Comics Event Review [Bane of Kings/Shadowhawk]

Battle of the Atom 01

Bane of Kings and Shadowhawk take a look at the first month of Marvel’s one of two ongoing events, celebrating 50 years of X-Men comics.

Battle of the Atom so far is an event with an absolutely awesome premise and some killer artwork, yet it finds itself let down by the fact that it feels like it’s being dragged out over too many books” ~Bane of Kings, The Founding Fields

“As with DC’s Trinity War, Marvel’s X-Men: Battle of the Atom is my first taste of reading a major event unfold on a week-by-week basis, and I’m definitely loving it. I’m coming in without any previous comics knowledge, and yet the story is very approachable, which is great.” ~Shadowhawk, The Founding Fields

Comics Round-up 15.05.2013

04 Batman Knightfall

Shadowhawk and Bane of Kings welcome you to the second comics round-up for May.

“The only disappointment this time around was Matt Fraction’s first arc for The Mighty Thor. Batman: Knightfall Volume 1 was simply amazing in terms of its deep-seated psychological impact while Fables Volume 2 was the perfect successor to the first volume, and G.I.Joe: Cobra Volume 2 continued to impress with its character exploration of Chuckles.” ~Shadowhawk

Action Comics #19 sees Andy Diggle’s short run go out with a bang, Jeff Lemire establishes Green Arrow as one of the best of the New 52, while Jeph Leob delivers another strong issue of Nova and All New X-Men remains one of the best currently ongoing Marvel Now! comics.” ~Bane of Kings

Comics Round-up 01.04.2013

justiceleague9

Shadowhawk and Bane of Kings welcome you to the first comics round-up for April.

“After reading the first half of JMS’ run on Wonder Woman, I sincerely wish that it was him writing the current ongoing, rather than Azzarello. Bill Willingham delivers an absolute scorcher on Fables Vol.1, even as Snyder’s Batman ends on a rather tame note. Following Arvid Nelson’s excellent first two volumes, Robert Place Napton’s Dejah Thoris proves to be a disappointment, continuing a trend with the writer across the various John Carter titles.” ~Shadowhawk

“The flagship titles of Marvel Now! make some good, entertaining progress and DC’s Justice League is a strong but flawed series” ~Bane of Kings
