Milo, aka “Bane of Kings”, runs down the Top 5 Must Read Comics for this NCBD. With lots of Dark Horse, DC and Marvel titles.
Wow, what a week for new comics! My pull-list has fifteen books on it and all of them look awesome, so it was going to be a hard time deciding which five books would be must buys. But eventually, I settled on the following. As always you can find the full list of releases on ComicList, with my pull found in full here. Now without further ado, let’s get on with the show.
Story: Victor Gischler | Art: Will Conrad | Publisher: Dark Horse Comics | Price: $3.50
Angel’s work is never done. During his most recent world saving, a part of London was transformed and flooded with magic. Who better to watch over this magical community than Angel? At least, that’s what he thinks. Meanwhile, Faith starts a new chapter in her life—slaying zompires alongside Buffy?!
WHY? I’m a massive Buffy fan and there’s no way I’m going to miss out on this one. Like the new series of Buffy that launched last month, Angel & Faith is looking set to be another really strong read if the previous season is anything to go by.- even though there’s a different creative team.
Story: Dan Jurgens | Art: Ed Tadeo, Len Medina | Publisher: DC Comics | Price: $2.99
A “FUTURES END” prelude! Spinning out of AQUAMAN, the King of Atlantis and his teammates find themselves targeted by an unknown foe that wants their Atlantean artifacts! Don’t miss the start of this all-new series!
WHY? I’m not the biggest fan of Dan Jurgens but it’s the characters that I’m hyped for and I’ll try at least two issues from any new DC Book especially if it’s only $2.99. You can certainly count me on board for this title for at least the early stages – and hopefully Jurgens surprises everybody and writes a good book. But we’ll see.
Story: Jeff Lemire | Art: Andrea Sorrentino | Publisher: DC Comics | Price: $2.99
“The Outsiders War” Part 5! Arrow and Robert face a mob of Outsiders. It looks bad…but the cavalry is about to arrive in the form of Katana, Butcher, Magus and Kodiak! Will they be in time to save the day?
WHY? The theme I’m talking about is of course, Green Arrow. This book is my favourite DC ongoing right now and I cannot freaking wait for more Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino. This book is knocking it out of the park right now and #29’s cliffhanger was amazing, so this should be great. Easily my most anticipated book of the week.
Story: Warren Ellis | Art: Declan Shalvey | Publisher: Marvel Comics | Price: $3.99
The best new comic of 2014 continues with a story that has to be experienced to be believed!
WHY? I loved the last issue, so this one should be just as great. Warren Ellis is amazing, and it’s great to see him with a Marvel ongoing.
Story: Charles Soule | Art: Jesus Siaz | Publisher: DC Comics | Price: $2.99
Alec Holland contemplates the Sureen’s offer to turn him human…but if he does accept, what happens to his almost all-powerful body? He and his warrior companion Capucine must travel to India to find the answers…and to get there, they’ll need help from Vandal Savage!
WHY? When two of my favourite DC books come out in one week, you know that week is a good one and that second title is of course Swamp Thing – written by the excellent Charles Soule, who can do no wrong – seriously, each book that he puts out is amazing. Cannot wait for this one.
