Releasing Tomorrow: Ack-Ack-Macaque 2000AD Strip by Gareth Powell

ACK-ACK MACAQUE

Gareth L. Powell’s latest novel from publisher Solaris Books, Ack-Ack-Macaque, launches tomorrow at Forbidden Planet in London (on 179 Shaftesbury Avenue; 6.00-7.00 pm UTC). Coinciding with the release of the book is a comic strip for the popular 2000AD monthly magazine, a prequel titled “Indestructible“. Prog 2013 is an end-of-the-year 100-page bumper issue, so it’s even more of an awesome thing than it normally would be. The novel itself is one I’m looking forward to reading and this comic is just gravy for that! I think it’s about time that I got around to reading some Gareth Powell. The previews of the comic I’ve read are definitely ace! Click after the break to see what you can find in the comic strip.

Taking on the Third Reich is no monkey business!

Gareth L. Powell’s Ack-Ack Macaque gets comic book treatment

“Fizzes with wild ideas… A ripping yarn about murder, mayhem and monkeys” – Philip Reeve, author of Mortal Engines series

“Gareth Powell is going to be a major voice in SF.” – Paul Cornell

With Nazis, zepplins and a cigar-chomping primate protagonist, the new blisteringly fun SF masterpiece from master storyteller Gareth L. Powell is to burst into the pages of the iconic British comic book, 2000 AD. A prequel tale to Powell’s Ack-Ack Macaque, Indestructible, will appear in the traditional ‘end of year’ bumper 100-page edition of 2000 AD, Prog 2013.

In 1944, as waves of German ninjas parachute into Kent, Britain’s best hopes for victory lie with a Spitfire pilot codenamed ‘Ack-Ack Macaque.’ The trouble is he’s actually a cynical, one-eyed, cigar-chomping monkey, and he’s starting to doubt everything – including his own existence!

Drawn by Judge Dredd artist Nick Dyer, the comic strip sees the novel’s eponymous hero take on the might of the Third Reich with his trusted
compatriot, Morris.

Available to buy in all good newsagents on 12th December, the digital edition of Prog 2013 – available through 2000 AD’s online store and Apple Newsstand app – will also include exclusive pencils, inks and concept sketches!
