Death of Superman

Shadowhawk and Bane of Kings welcome you to the second comics round-up for July.

“In a recent full-on run with various DC titles, it has been quite a mixed bag, in a good way. Doomsday proved to be a technically great story that I mostly enjoyed while Milligan’s first arc on Justice League Dark had its great moments as well. The strongest title here is definitely Gail Simone’s breakout hit (as far as I am concerned) The Movement which continues from strength to strength.” ~Shadowhawk, The Founding Fields

With Marvel, Young Avengers and Daredevil: Dark Nights both get off to an incredible start, while at DC, Snyder proves that he can write two-issue arcs as well as year-long epics, and Kyle Higgins gives Nightwing a fantastic new direction.” ~Bane of Kings, The Founding Fields

Comics Round-up 01.06.2013

Earth 2 Annual 2013

Shadowhawk and Bane of Kings welcome you to the first comics round-up for June.

Demon Reborn is a below-par Witchblade title from Dynamite that just fails to ever get going. Bill Willingham’s Fairest, a Fables spin-off, has a bit of a rough start but gets better with each issue. Geoff Johns’ Justice League of America continues to impress but still has a fair few flaws that prevent it from becoming a top title. And Brian Wood’s ongoing Star Wars is just superb with excellent characterisation and dialogue.” ~Shadowhawk, The Founding Fields

Batman: Earth 2 Annual #1 provides a misleading first outing for the new caped crusader while Nightwing impresses. Thanos Rising is comparable to Star Wars, and, Wolverine and the X-Men seems set to be one of the weirdest Marvel comics currently ongoing. ~Bane of Kings, The Founding Fields

Cover Art: Bat-Family and March (DC Comics)

Shadowhawk takes a look at the March covers for the Bat-family titles in a post-Death of the Family setting. Contains spoilers for the Death of the Family crossover and from Batman, Incorporated #8.

“The emotional fallout from Batman, Incorporated #8 won’t hit home until you look at these covers.” ~Shadowhawk

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe – Comics Review [Shadowhawk]

He-Man

Shadowhawk reviews all the 12 issues of the new DC Comics reboot for the classic Hasbro toy line: four issues of the ongoing series, a special one-shot origin tale for Skeletor, and seven one-shot issues covering the various heroes and villains of the setting.

“The entire reboot has been a mixed bag, but the strength of the entire line-up is in the reimagining of all the old classic characters.” ~The Founding Fields
