Punisher - The Trial Of The Punisher 01

Shadowhawk and Bane of Kings welcome you to the second comics round-up for October.

“In an effort to read more Marvel, I picked up a bunch of new titles, plus one of the few ongoing series I’m following right now and have to say that the experience has been largely negative. Both the new Captain America and Spider-Man comics have proven to be duds with the first issue while the new Punisher comic was half-decent at a stretch.” ~Shadowhawk, The Founding Fields

Judge Dredd: Year One provides a great look into the early years of the character whilst the first volume of Grimm provides a nice adaption set in the world of the NBC series that you can enjoy whether or not you’re a fan.” ~Bane of Kings, The Founding Fields

08 Daredevil

Shadowhawk and Bane of Kings welcome you to the second comics round-up for June.

“One of these rare times when all these books were fairly impressive. Earth 2 is carving out a great niche for itself and doing some great things with the alternate setting, with Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray’s first Power Girl volume being no less exciting, if a little flawed. Over at Marvel, Mark Waid’s first Daredevil volume is urban action and Daredevil done near-perfectly, with Ed Brubaker’s Captain America: Winter Soldier Volume 1 being simply exceptional.” ~Shadowhawk, The Founding Fields

The Flash opens a new story arc in a fantastic way and Batwoman impresses in its own corner of the Bat-family, while Superior Spider-Man delivers on its promise yet again and Brian Michael Bendis proves that he’s much better at writing for the X-Men themselves than he is with events.  If you’re not reading these books, you should be.” ~Bane of Kings, The Founding Fields

Shadowhawk and Bane of Kings welcome you to the first comics round-up for May.

“After the excellent Rebirth, No Fear sadly fails fails to stir any interest. IDW,s G.I.Joe reboot goes full steam ahead with Chuck Dixon’s second G.I.Joe volume while Mike Costa and Christos Gage turn out an absolute cracker with the first volume of Cobra. And against all expectations, the Captain Marvel reboot disappoints spectacularly.” ~Shadowhawk

Aquaman is consistent whilst Justice League falters, and Superior Spider-man has a really strong opening four issues.” ” ~Bane of Kings

G.I.Joe Vol.1 IDW

Shadowhawk and Bane of Kings welcome you to the second comics round-up for April.

“Taking a step back in time from JMS’ Odyssey Vol.1 to read the first post-Infinite Crisis Wonder Woman title proved to be a wise choice, as did going back to IDW’s first reboot of the G.I.Joe franchise. The new version of Spider-man arch-villain Venom proved to be a major disappointment and Zenescope’s first collected volume of their fairy tale reimaginings ended up being more promising than I’d expected.” ~Shadowhawk

A mixed bag from DC with Jeff Lemire’s Green Arrow being spectacular but the first volume of All Star Western falling well short. On the other hand, Marvel hits it out of the park with a superb opening start to the adventures of Miles Morales, the new Ultimate Comics Spider-man.” ~Bane of Kings
