The City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett – Competition!
UK Publisher Jo Fletcher Books are hosting a competition for their latest title, Robert Jackson Bennett’s The City of Stairs, which has already received plenty of critical acclaim. Hit the break to find out the full details.
Jo Fletcher Books are a publisher with a very good track record. I don’t think I’ve ever read a bad book that they’ve put out, which is saying something given their ever-growing output. The latest offering comes from Robert Jackson Bennett (The Troupe, The Company Man), and has already received some excellent praise with several readers calling it one of their favourite books of the year so far. Whilst I haven’t actually read the book yet, it’s high on my list of things to do especially given all the feedback and once I’ve finished, you can certainly expect a review on this site. Without further ado though, here is not only the blurb for the novel, but also the full details for the competition itself (which can also be found here).
You’ve got to be careful when you’re chasing a murderer through Bulikov, for the world is not as it should be in that city. When the gods were destroyed and all worship of them banned by the Polis, reality folded; now stairs lead to nowhere, alleyways have become portals to the past, and criminals disappear into thin air.
The murder of Dr Efrem Pangyui, the Polis diplomat researching the Continent’s past, has begun something and now whispers of an uprising flutter out from invisible corners. Only one woman may be willing to pursue the truth – but it is likely to cost her everything.
To celebrate the launch of City of Stairs we are offering a very special prize.
We have five copies of the book to give away, plus one lucky winner will receive a £100 Red Letter Day experience.*
All you have to do for your chance to win is let us know on our blog, Facebook page or Twitter – with #CityOfStairs – what tangible miraculous object would you create if you were a god of Bulikov? A door which takes you to the past? A knotted cord that brings rain when untied? These are just some of the miracles the gods brought to Bulikov, but what would you add?
Let us know by October 30th for your chance to win.
*Prize will be supplied in a £100 worth of vouchers for Red Letter Days. Full terms and conditions can be found here.
