Comics Round-up 15.06.2013

08 Daredevil

Shadowhawk and Bane of Kings welcome you to the second comics round-up for June.

“One of these rare times when all these books were fairly impressive. Earth 2 is carving out a great niche for itself and doing some great things with the alternate setting, with Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray’s first Power Girl volume being no less exciting, if a little flawed. Over at Marvel, Mark Waid’s first Daredevil volume is urban action and Daredevil done near-perfectly, with Ed Brubaker’s Captain America: Winter Soldier Volume 1 being simply exceptional.” ~Shadowhawk

The Flash opens a new story arc in a fantastic way and Batwoman impresses in its own corner of the Bat-family, while Superior Spider-Man delivers on its promise yet again and Brian Michael Bendis proves that he’s much better at writing for the X-Men themselves than he is with events.  If you’re not reading these books, you should be.” ~Bane of Kings

04 Batman Knightfall

Shadowhawk and Bane of Kings welcome you to the second comics round-up for May.

“The only disappointment this time around was Matt Fraction’s first arc for The Mighty Thor. Batman: Knightfall Volume 1 was simply amazing in terms of its deep-seated psychological impact while Fables Volume 2 was the perfect successor to the first volume, and G.I.Joe: Cobra Volume 2 continued to impress with its character exploration of Chuckles.” ~Shadowhawk

Action Comics #19 sees Andy Diggle’s short run go out with a bang, Jeff Lemire establishes Green Arrow as one of the best of the New 52, while Jeph Leob delivers another strong issue of Nova and All New X-Men remains one of the best currently ongoing Marvel Now! comics.” ~Bane of Kings

Shadowhawk and Bane of Kings welcome you to the first comics round-up for May.

“After the excellent Rebirth, No Fear sadly fails fails to stir any interest. IDW,s G.I.Joe reboot goes full steam ahead with Chuck Dixon’s second G.I.Joe volume while Mike Costa and Christos Gage turn out an absolute cracker with the first volume of Cobra. And against all expectations, the Captain Marvel reboot disappoints spectacularly.” ~Shadowhawk

Aquaman is consistent whilst Justice League falters, and Superior Spider-man has a really strong opening four issues.” ” ~Bane of Kings
